X4A and X4C are Participating Research Team (PRT) X-ray beamlines at National Synchrotron Light Source(NSLS) operated by the New York Structural Biology Center (NYSBC). Making use of X-ray photons generated from accelerated electrons from the NSLS storage ring, both beamlines are optimized for Multiple Anomalous Diffraction (MAD) experiments for macromolecular crystallography. X4A is one of pioneer synchrotron beamlines in the world in MAD experiment as early as 1987. In 2005, after significant upgration, X4C commissioned as a sister MAD beamline to serve user community.
Participating users from ten member institutions contribute to most of beamtime usage and general users contribute up to 25% beam usage. We are delighted to invite valuable users from all over the world to do experiments at X4 beamlines. Please check Beamline Schedule for available beam time.
